Job description:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Hand to join our dynamic team in our Fab Shop!  The Lead Hand will play a crucial role in overseeing daily functions in the shop, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. This position requires a strong background in the daily use of Laser, Brake Press, Saw and Drill equipment, with expertise in various technical skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership qualities, mechanical knowledge, and a commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of the fabrication team to ensure timely completion of projects.
• Provide hands-on support in fab shop tasks, as needed.
• Train and mentor crew members on best practices for using machinery and tools.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean work environment.
• Interpret blueprints and schematics to guide project execution.
• Utilize various tools such as callipers, power tools, and hand tools for precise measurements and assembly.
• Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

 Skills

• Proficient in Brake and Laser equipment operation, techniques and mechanical knowledge.
• Strong ability to read blueprints and schematics, and communicate effectively.
• Competence in basic math for accurate measurements and calculations.
• Knowledge of forklift operation and overhead crane for material handling.
• Ability to work with hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Previous experience in manufacturing environments required.

 Experience

• Brake Press: 3 years (required)
• Lead Hand/Supervisory: 1 year (required)
